Bravo developing new docu-reality series starring Mia Michaels By Christopher Rocchio, 03/10/2010
Bravo has announced that it is developing a new docu-reality series starring former So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Mia Michaels.
The yet-to-be-titled reality series will follow Michaels as she "navigates through the world of professional dance," according to Bravo, which also termed her the "reigning queen of contemporary dance" and described her work as "personal, passionate, quirky, beautiful, challenging, uncompromisingly original."
Michaels announced last October that she was leaving So You Think You Can Dance effective immediately to instead focus on "other projects" -- including three new television shows.
"All three of them are very different," she told The Wall Street Journal in November.
"One is a choreography show, one is a doc-reality show of a stage show that will be touring the states and the third one was inspired by a website called 'Mia Michaels, Please Choreograph My Life.'"
Bravo announced Michaels' new series as part of a larger announcement in which the network unveiled plans to expand to an unspecified fifth night of original programming and film all future programming in high-definition.
In addition, the network also announced the pickup of a new The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills edition of its popular The Real Housewives franchise; the renewals of The Fashion Show, Million Dollar Listing and Tabatha's Salon Takeover; pickups three new Social Club, Million Dollar Decorators and Pregnant In Heels docu-dramas; and the development of four additional reality projects.
