Melissa Joan Hart was "nervous" during 'Dancing with the Stars' run By Christopher Rocchio, 10/28/2009
Melissa Joan Hart was eager to participate in Dancing with the Stars, however when she got her wish it was apparently more difficult than she thought it would be.
"I was a lot more nervous than I ever expected to be. But it's a hard thing to get out here and do every week," said the actress during a Tuesday night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Hart and her professional partner Mark Ballas were eliminated from Dancing with the Stars' ninth season during last night's live results show based on a combination of their judges scores from Monday night's performance episode and home viewer votes cast immediately following the broadcast.
Hart acknowledged that prior to her Monday night waltz, she was feeling ill after having caught the flu from Ballas.
"I had quite a fever yesterday before I went out there and waltzed," she told Kimmel, who asked why she didn't try to garner the sympathy vote.
"My partner took all the pity," she replied. "I had to go out and suck it up."
Vito and his professional partner Chelsie Hightower were also ousted last night by the show's judges after competing in a special "Dance Off" with retired NFL star Michael Irvin and professional newcomer Anna Demidova.
While Vito dropped Hightower twice during their Monday night jitterbug, he still got a kiss from the former So You Think You Can Dance finalist.
"I love how things work out like that sometime," he told Kimmel, who subsequently asked if there was anything romantic going on between Vito and his partner.
"No, just our dancing was going on," he replied. "I got a kiss, I was pretty happy I got that."
Kimmel also had a bit of fun with Hart -- referencing her starring role on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which aired on ABC from 1996 to 2000 and then on the now-defunct The WB until 2003.
"At any point during the competition did you consider using witchcraft to help you?" asked Kimmel.
"Whoa, hold on. That joke is like 1996," replied Hart.
"Yeah, but so are you to be honest," said Kimmel, which drew a laugh from the studio audience. "I'm sorry. I'm an evil person."
