Natalie Coughlin: 'Dancing with the Stars' ouster "doesn't feel good"
By Christopher Rocchio, 10/21/2009

Natalie Coughlin said she wouldn't trade Olympic gold for another shot at Dancing with the Stars' mirror ball trophy, however her other medals are apparently up for grabs.

"Maybe I'd trade a bronze," she jokingly said during a Tuesday night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live via satellite.

"I absolutely loved this and I wish I could stay longer."

The Olympic gold medalist swimmer and her partner Alec Mazo became the seventh couple eliminated from Dancing with the Stars' ninth season during last night's live results show broadcast of the ABC reality series.

The couple was ousted during the fifth week of the competition based on a combination of their judges scores from Monday night's performance episode and home viewer votes cast immediately following the broadcast.

"This definitely doesn't feel good," she told Kimmel.

Despite being sad that her Dancing with the Stars experience is over, Coughlin said she can now focus on training for the Summer Olympics in 2012.

"That's the goal from here on out," she said. "[The Olympics] are a little bit more important to me than this and I'm looking forward to getting back to something I'm good at."

Carrie Ann Inaba disappointed by Natalie Coughlin's 'Dancing' ouster
By Christopher Rocchio, 10/22/2009

Consider Carrie Ann Inaba among those who feel Olympic gold medalist swimmer Natalie Coughlin was undeserving of her Dancing with the Stars ouster.

"I was a little disappointed," Inaba told OK! Weekly on Wednesday.

"We haven't had a female dancer who moved with such strength and flexibility and fluidity in a while. And she hasn't had any performing experience. I was really excited to see how far she could grow throughout the ten weeks of our show."

Coughlin and her partner Alec Mazo became the seventh couple eliminated from Dancing with the Stars' ninth season during Tuesday night's live results show broadcast of the ABC reality series.

Coughlin and Mazo had actually ranked higher on the judges' Monday night performance show leaderboard than retired NFL star Michael Irvin and professional newcomer Anna Demidova, however they failed to land enough home viewer votes to stave off elimination.

"Unfortunately for Natalie, I think that people didn't know who she was," Inaba told OK!.

"Maybe the fan base of her sport isn't watching our show or maybe it isn't as big as someone like Michael Irvin's fan base, which is basketball."

Irvin's fan base is actually from football, but regardless of where his viewer support is coming from, it has been enough to keep him in the competition despite finishing at the bottom of the judges' leaderboard four times during the competition's first five weeks.
